where wise men never go

I'm really, really busy with studying for my Comparative Constitutionalism midterm, so this'll be sort of a cheat blog entry. Promise there won't be too many of these.

I was looking for "Fools Gold" on iTunes and noticed something really strange. For some reason, I have not one, not two, not four, but THREE versions of "Fools Rush In". There's the Rick Nelson version (I'm not sure where the hell that video is from), another by Ol' Blue Eyes, and finally, the King. I remember downloading each of these individually, but I never connected the "I have this song already" dots. And, like most things in life, Elvis did it better than everybody.

My Elvis Presley education began kind of late - my parents weren't really huge fans so he wasn't really present in my rotation until I got into Johnny Cash's earlier work at Sun Records and I checked out the other stuff that studio was doing at time. I'd recommend "Elvis At Sun" to everybody, it's a collection of some of the best stuff he was doing right at the beginning of his career, including my almost favorite song of his, "That's All Right":

What's my favorite? "A Little Less Conversation". It's one of the few songs that are simply perfect - it's slick, energetic, and so catchy the Center for Disease Control officially considers it a pandemic. Enjoy, motherfuckers.
